Jamshedpur is all set to host an exciting golf event as Tata Steel and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) bring back the Tata Open from December 25 to 28, 2025. This four-day tournament will take place at the beautiful Beldih and Golmuri golf courses, offering a total prize purse of Rs 2 crore. It’s the final event of the 2025 PGTI season, so the competition is expected to be tough.
A total of 126 professional golfers will compete in this stroke-play format, with four rounds of 18 holes each. After the first two rounds, only the top 50 players and those tied will advance to the next stages.
What makes this tournament special is that it’s one of the few in the world played across two different courses. In the first round, half the players will start at Beldih while the other half plays at Golmuri. They switch courses in the second round. For the third and fourth rounds, the leading players will play the front nine at Golmuri and then move to Beldih for the back nine.
The field includes some of India’s best golfers like Yuvraj Sandhu, who is the current PGTI Order of Merit champion, and Veer Ahlawat, last year’s winner. Other big names are Shaurya Bhattacharya, Arjun Prasad, Manu Gandas, Angad Cheema, Om Prakash Chouhan, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Rashid Khan, Khalin Joshi, and Chikkarangappa.
Foreign players adding to the excitement include N Thangaraja and Mithun Perera from Sri Lanka, Md Siddikur Rahman from Bangladesh, and others from Czech Republic, America, Nepal, and Uganda. Past winners like Om Prakash Chouhan, Mithun Perera, Mukesh Kumar, Shamim Khan, and Gurki Shergill are also playing.
Local golfer Kurush Heerjee will represent Jamshedpur.
Both courses are known for their green beauty, with the Dalma Hills in the background. Beldih has long fairways, while Golmuri is tighter and demands precise shots.
D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President at Tata Steel, said the company believes in the power of sports to build communities and support new talent. He noted that the tournament is returning to its old name, Tata Open, after being called Tata Steel Tour Championship in recent years.
Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, thanked Tata Steel for bringing back this historic event as the season ender. He said it will be a thrilling finish with a lot at stake for the players.
Golf fans can look forward to some great action over the weekend.
