JAMTARA (July 31): In a significant breakthrough against online financial frauds, the Jamtara Cyber Crime Police arrested three cyber criminals following targeted raids across two locations in the district. Authorities recovered incriminating devices, including multiple mobile phones, activated SIM cards, ATM cards, and a motorcycle used in fraudulent operations.

Addressing the press, Jamtara Superintendent of Police (SP) Shambhu Kumar Singh stated that the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence regarding illegal cyber activities in the region. Acting swiftly on the lead, specialized police teams carried out coordinated raids in Sonwad village (under Jamtara Police Station limits) and Bewa village (under Mihijam Police Station limits), leading to the apprehending of the three suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Vikram Da, Jai Kumar Das, and Hemant Das. During the search, officers confiscated six mobile phones, eight active SIM cards, two ATM cards, and one motorcycle.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the trio had been actively involved in phishing and cyber fraud schemes for approximately one year.

“We are currently interrogating the accused to trace the full extent of their criminal syndicate,” SP Shambhu Kumar Singh noted. “Investigators are mapping their interstate operational links to determine which states their victims belonged to and how the defrauded funds were being laundered or utilized.”
