The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is questioning Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at CGO Complex in Kolkata. The investigating agency is also questioning the current medical superintendent and vice-principal of the hospital, Bulbul Mukhopadhyay.
On the other hand, doctors took out a protest rally in Kolkata today. The Bharatiya Janata Party also protested against the rape and murder and demanded resignations from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vinit Kumar Goyal. The Congress has also protested against the incident and demanded justice for the victim. Lawyers and sportspersons also took out a protest march.
Earlier in the day, Akhtar Ali, former deputy medical superintendent of RG Kar Medical College, had appealed to the Calcutta High Court to order an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate against the hospital’s former superintendent Sandip Ghosh for financial fraud and mismanagement. The court has given permission for this.
