579 Routes Operationalised Under UDAN Scheme, 21 New Greenfield Airports Approved

New Delhi, July 30, 2024: Under the UDAN scheme, Ministry of Civil Aviation, India; 579 routes spreading 85 airports, including 13 heliports and 2 water aerodromes now operational.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation while replied to the Rajya Sabha in written said that the central government has given In-Principle nod for the establishment of 21 fresh Greenfield airports across the country. On this regard, it is pertinent to mention that during the last 10 years, 12 Greenfield airports have been operationalised.

The UDAN Scheme has been launched to increase the connectivity throughout the country and provide cheap fares to the flyers. Plan Aims to Increase Connectivity, Advance Infrastructure saying the broad strategies of the government towards increasing connectivity and infrastructural development are believed to foster economic growth especially in the tourism sector.
