PM Modi Unveils New Terminal at Guwahati Airport; Says Assam to Drive 'Viksit Bharat' Journey
GUWAHATI, December 20, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the state-of-the-art terminal building at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. Designed to handle over 1.30 crore passengers annually, the terminal reflects Assam’s rich cultural heritage and biodiversity with its unique ‘Bamboo Garden’ theme.

During the visit, the PM also unveiled an 80-foot-tall statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister, Gopinath Bordoloi. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted that the Central Government prioritizes Assam under the ‘Act East Policy’. “In the last 11 years, massive infrastructure projects have been completed. Assam is now set to become the driver of a Developed India,” the PM said.
Taking a swipe at previous governments, he remarked that the development of the Northeast was never on the Congress’s agenda. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma called the inauguration a milestone for regional connectivity and economic growth.
The Prime Minister’s schedule for tomorrow includes ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ with 25 students on a cruise in the Brahmaputra river and laying the foundation stone for a ₹12,000 crore fertilizer project in Namrup.
