Exams Just Days Away, But Students’ Items Locked Up; Hostel Sealed, Families in Distress

Patna, January 19. Parents of students living in Shambhu Girls Hostel in Patna are deeply worried and have been pleading with the Bihar government for quick action. They want a proper investigation into the hostel’s safety and the immediate return of their daughters’ belongings.

The families say the hostel is not safe at all and their girls’ future is now in danger. With exams starting on February 2, the students can’t even get their books and personal items because the rooms have been sealed and locked.

One distraught parent told reporters, “I’d rather my daughter not study at all than have her kept in these wrong conditions.”

When parents reached out to the hostel administration, they were simply told that the rooms had been sealed. One staff member, speaking to the media, said, “We’re on rounds, I don’t know the details.”

After repeated complaints, a magistrate was sent to the spot. All the students’ belongings were handed over in his presence, but soon after, the hostel was sealed again.

Now, the parents are urging the government to conduct a full probe into the hostel’s security lapses and take strong steps to ensure nothing like this happens again.
