In a significant move to align state institutions with regional identity, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has ordered the renaming of the “Bihar Eye Bank Trust” to “Jharkhand Eye Bank Trust.” The decision was taken during a review meeting held at Lok Bhavan, Ranchi, where the Governor evaluated the trust’s performance and future goals.

Strategic Transformation Governor Gangwar emphasized that the trust must evolve into a premier and reliable eye care institution in the state. He directed officials to initiate the legal process for the name change immediately and stressed resolving long-standing land-related issues.

Expanding Healthcare Access To ensure that top-notch medical facilities reach the underprivileged, the Governor directed the integration of the Eye Bank Trust with the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana.’ This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to patients from economically weaker sections.

Focus on CSR and Modernization Highlighting the need for advanced eye care, the Governor suggested developing a service model that attracts Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding. These funds will be utilized to upgrade medical technology and expand infrastructure. He also emphasized the appointment of a dedicated professional Hospital Manager for smoother operations.

Key officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Nitin Kulkarni and Health Department ACS Ajay Kumar Singh, were present at the session.
