On July 12, 2024, Friday an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 jolted Baramulla area of valley in Kashmir at 12:26 pm. The tremors of the earthquake lasted about 60 seconds. According to the data, this earthquake was twice as large as an average earthquake.
Earthquake experts said that its epicenter was estimated to be about 10 km below the earth’s surface. The earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale.
The data was released by the National Center for Seismology (NCS). According to them, the main epicenter of the earthquake was Kashmir’s Baramulla.

The data states that the coordinates of earthquake were altitude 34.32 degrees North and longitude 74.34 degrees East.

In an 18 second video, shopkeepers and people could be seen seeking refugee.
As the earthquake striked, a busy market in Baramulla valley came to halt. People came out from their houses and gathered in the middle of the road. Passengers and people on vehicles stopped and waited on the road for the earthquake to pass out.
No property or casualties damage have been reported so far according to the data.
