Shimla: The state of Himachal Pradesh, including its capital Shimla, has received widespread monsoon rainfall over the last 24 hours, bringing relief to farmers and gardeners. The intermittent rains are still continuing in many parts of the state, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for heavy rain in several areas till July 31.
The rain is considered highly beneficial for apple-producing areas, which are a significant contributor to the state’s economy. However, the rains have also led to landslides in some parts of Shimla, including near the old bus stand and Gurudwara, yesterday. Fortunately, no damage was reported, and traffic was running smoothly.
District Magistrate Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, promptly responded to the incident by directing district administration officials to reach the spot and assess the situation. He instructed the Public Works Department to take necessary precautions and complete repair work as soon as possible.
The landslides have raised concerns about the safety of residents and tourists in the area. The district administration has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents.
