The UPSC has cancelled the provisional candidature of Puja Khedkar and barred her for life from the UPSC examinations in a major effort to ensure the honour of its examinations. The UPSC recently asked Khedkar to show why she violated the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022 rules and issued her a show cause notice. Although she was allowed ample time to write her explanation, she was unable to write it in the required time frame. While elaborately reviewing the data of more than 15000 CSE final recommended candidates of the last fifteen years, the UPSC.in found out that none of the candidates received more attempt than allowed.
The UPSC has promised to enhance the widely adopted Standard Operating Procedure in a bid to ensure that there aren’t repeats for any such terrible occurrences in the future. This action demonstrates that the UPSC will not condone exam fraud, and the commission is willing to do whatever it takes to maintain the integrity of its exams.
