 Inauguration of ITI Chandil: Tata Steel Foundation Boosts Vocational Training in Jharkhand

Promoting Economic Development through Skills

The Tata Steel Foundation, in a significant stride towards enhancing vocational education, proudly inaugurated its latest venture, the ITI Chandil, in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. This initiative marks the fourth Industrial Training Institute (ITI) established by the foundation in Jharkhand, underscoring its commitment to vocational training and employability.
New Vocational Hub in Jharkhand
The inauguration of ITI Chandil, which took place under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Government of Jharkhand, signifies a pivotal moment for vocational education in the region. This development follows the successful establishment of two other model ITIs in Jharkhand: ITI Tamar in 2012 and ITI Jagannathpur in 2017.
Key Attendees and Official Recognition
The event was honored by the presence of MLA Ichagarh, Ms. Sabita Mahato, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Chanakya Chaudhary, Director of Tata Steel Foundation, and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, who highlighted the significance of this initiative in empowering the local youth.
Comprehensive Training Programs
ITI Chandil will offer a range of courses tailored to meet the demands of modern industries:
  • Fitter
  • Welder
  • Advanced CNC
  • Tool and Die Maker
  • Machinist
  • Mechanic E-Vehicle
These programs are designed to equip students with skills critical for employment in sectors like manufacturing, industrial machining, and the rapidly growing electric vehicle industry.
Enhancing Employability in Jharkhand
With an initial intake capacity of 152 students annually, ITI Chandil is set to increase its capacity to about 250 in the future. The institute will also conduct short-term skills enhancement programs based on industry needs, ensuring a continuous supply of skilled labor to the market.
Economic Development and Skill Bridging
The establishment of ITI Chandil not only aims at enhancing employability but also fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. By addressing the skill gap in key industries, the institute is expected to play a crucial role in the economic upliftment of the region.
