In preparation for the grand inauguration of the Outpatient Department (OPD) services at the new 500-bed hospital within the MGM Medical College campus, scheduled for October 5, 2024, by Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, a thorough inspection was conducted by Shri Banna Gupta, the Honorable Minister of Health, Medical Education, Family Welfare, and Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department. The visit aimed to ensure that all facilities are up to standard before the public launch.
During his visit, Minister Gupta was accompanied by key officials including Principal Secretary Health Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, Campaign Director NHM Shri Abu Imran, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Shri Ananya Mittal, and Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Kishore Kaushal. The inspection included a critical assessment of the ongoing construction at the college campus. A high-level meeting was convened where Minister Gupta provided directives and sought updates from the Chief Engineer of the Building Corporation and L&T representatives, the implementing agency.

Speaking to the media, Minister Gupta highlighted that the current configuration of the MGM Hospital includes 751 beds, with 131 designated as ICU beds and 620 as general beds. Additionally, a separate 100-bed Critical Care Unit is under construction, which will elevate the hospital’s total capacity to 851 beds. The minister emphasized that this facility will significantly enhance healthcare services for Kolhan and the neighboring districts.
The readiness of the hospital for efficient operation was reviewed, focusing on the remaining logistical and medical requirements. Minister Gupta expressed that the hospital would soon be operational, serving the community of Kolhan with advanced healthcare facilities.
Also present during the event were City SP Mr. Rishabh Garg, SDM Dhalbhum Mrs. Shatabdi Majumdar, Civil Surgeons Dr. Sahir Pal and Dr. Jujhar Majhi, among other administrative and police officers, underscoring the collaborative effort across departments.
