Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline through video conference today. This is the first energy pipeline between the two countries which has been built at a cost of Rs 377 crore. Out of this, the Government of India has also borne the expenditure of Bangladesh’s share of about Rs.285 crores. Through this pipeline, one million metric tons of high speed diesel can be sent annually to seven districts of northern Bangladesh and the cost will also be reduced. This will also enhance cooperation in the field of energy security between the two countries.
