The NEET-UG 2024 issue will be of the Supreme Court’s focus today as a bevy of petitions is to be entertained by the court. More than 40 such pleas include a call for annulment of the exams, a rescheduling of the test and an inquiry into certain malpractices in the administration of NEET-UG 2024.

The hearing was earlier deferred on July 11 as some petitioners said they did not get replies from the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA). As for the bench, the hearing will be conducted by Chief Justice D. Y. Chandrachud and accompanied by Justice J. B. Pardiwala, and Manoj Mishra.
The petitions also involve the application by the NTA to transfer various cases filed against it in all the High Courts to the Supreme Court. This is in a bid to reign in multiplicity of the processes of law and merge them into a more formatted framework.
The NEET-UG 2024 has been quite a debacle and emerged to be surrounded by much complaints and legal blasphemies over alleged malpractices and associated idiosyncrasies towards the execution of the test. Today’s hearing could make or mar the examinations for thousands of students who sat for the test depending on what the Supreme Court has to say concerning the matter.
Everyone in the legal fraternity and stakeholders are eagerly waiting to know the fate of today’s hearing as it shall probably form the future of medical education in India.
