UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy Meets PM Modi, Agrees to Elevate Bilateral Ties
British Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs David Lammy who met premier Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday asserted that India remains committed to taking the relations with Britain to a new level. The said meeting can be considered as an official visit of Lammy to India as the UK Foreign Secretary.
In the discussion, while approving the UK’s interest in signing an FTA, PM Modi remarked that it should be reciprocal beneficial. The two sides also discussed road map 2030 signed and adopted during the India-UK Virtual Summit, 2021 and both are satisfied with the work done so far.

Lammy also had a discussion with the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and the other meetings held were bilateral consultations with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. The ministers decided to relaunch the Roadmap 2030, and called for increasing the level of aspiration in the bilateral context.
Reporting mostly on these arenas, both sides agreed to finalize the details in special priority areas including trade and investment, defence and security, migration and mobility, IT/AI and related sectors, innovation, climate and green energy. Both of them applauded the start of the United Kingdom India Technology Security Initiative also large steps in the so called India United Kingdom Foreign Trade Agreement.
The ministers also discussed regional and international matters such as the war in Ukraine, the Middle East and particularly West Asia, the Red Sea Zone. The visit demonstrates the readiness of both parties to elevate and expand the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
