Aanvi Kamdar, A 27-year-old travel influencer, dies in a tragic accident after falling off in 300 feet gorge, near Kumbha Waterfall in Mangaon in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.
The incident took place on July 16, 2024, Tuesday. She went there for monsoon outing with her group of seven friends.
Aanvi Kamdar was a famous Mumbai influencer who made videos and content related to travel, luxury discoveries, cafes, itineraries, tips and personal experiences. She was known as @theglocaljournal on Instagram who is followed up by nearly 307,000 followers.
Her bio states that she was a Chartered Accountant and had previously worked at Deloitte.
Investigation states that the incident took place around 10:30 am when she was filming Instagram reel. While recording the video, she slipped in a deep crevice which took her life.

The Mangaon Police station’s officials states that her friends informed police just after the incident took place. Police alerted the voluntary rescue groups who were working in the area.
The police and the rescue teams reached the spot around 12:30 pm. After rescuing her from the gorge, they took her to the nearby Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital.
The rescuers from multiple agencies were called out to rescue Kamdar. The rescue operation took nearly 5 hours to pull Kamdar out from the gorge.
Six rescuers went down the hill, into the gorge while 50 rescuers assisted from top of the hillock.
With the help of police officials, panchayat members and electricity distribution company, she was pulled out from the 300 feet gorge around 4:30 pm.
She was sent up by using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. After pulling her out, she was immediately taken to the nearby Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital. But she was declared dead later at the hospital.
“The rescue operation took time because it was hindered up by the heavy rainfall, bad weather and dangerous terrain”. – The rescuers states.
“She fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300 feet into the valley and could not be spotted initially” said one of the rescuers, Shantanu Kuveskar. He also stated that Aanvi was responsive when she was found, but unfortunately passed away during the treatment in hospital.
Aanvi’s family reached the accident spot around 5:30 pm where they were told that she had taken to the hospital.
The authorities have led warning for the people to exercise extreme cautions at these types of spots during rainy season.
Her last reel on Instagram was about the places to spend long weekend of 15 august.
