“Himachal Pradesh Floods: Una District Bears the Brunt, Relief Work Underway
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Sunday visited various flood affected areas of the district to take stock of the situation and review the relief operations. The Deputy Commissioner directed the government machinery to continue the relief and rescue operations swiftly and effectively so that all possible help can be provided to the affected people. He reiterated the readiness and commitment of the district administration as per the directions of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and assured all possible help to the affected people.

Heavy rains on Sunday have caused heavy loss of life and property in Una district. As per the information received so far, 12 people have died and 3 people are missing in various accidents due to floods. Apart from this, many government projects have been damaged, while industrial units and residential areas have also been damaged due to waterlogging. The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the affected people while monitoring the situation in the affected areas and reviewing the relief operations and assured them of all possible help. He urged the public to contact the toll free number 1077 of the District Disaster Operation Center in case of any emergency.
Restoration work of affected projects is being done promptly
He informed that 335 electricity transformers have been affected in the district, and 11 roads have been closed, some of which will be opened by this evening. In addition, water supply and irrigation schemes have also been damaged due to the floods. 22 water supply schemes have been affected in Haroli subdivision, out of which 21 will be restored through other schemes, while one scheme Bathri will be restored by tomorrow. Several water supply and irrigation schemes have also been affected in Una and Thanakalan subdivisions, which are being tried to be restored by tomorrow.
Industrial units have been damaged due to the entry of ravine water in Bathu-Bathri industrial area, and a petrol pump has also been damaged due to the floods. The district administration has called a team of State Disaster Response Force from Kangra district to Una to expedite the relief work, which has been deployed in Haroli subdivision.
Let us tell you, heavy rains on Sunday have caused extensive damage in Una district. 3 migrant girls who belonged to Bihar died in Bathu-Bathri due to floods. The bodies have been recovered and sent to the Regional Hospital Una for post-mortem. The administration has provided assistance of Rs 10,000 each to the families of the deceased as immediate relief. At the same time, the search for a person caught in the flood is going on.
Apart from this, a vehicle was swept away in the strong flow of water near Jaijon village (Himachal-Punjab border), out of 12 people in it, 1 has been rescued, bodies of 9 people have been recovered and the search for 2 is going on. All these people were residents of Dehlan and Bhatoli villages and were going to attend a wedding ceremony. The administration has provided assistance to the families of the deceased.
