Doctors across Assam on Saturday joined the nationwide protest against the rape and murder of a doctor in a Kolkata hospital, demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits. The strike was called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Doctors of Guwahati Medical College Hospital are seen protesting in the hospital premises suspending all the medical services except the emergency services. In Tezpur, Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Mental Health Institute Doctors refrain from all services except emergency medical services.

The doctors’ protest was supported by all the health workers of the health institution. Meanwhile protest was also held at Dhubri Medical College and Hospital premises. The protesters demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of the heinous incident in Kolkata The protest was also held at the Nagaon Medical College today. The students of the college suspended all other activities except emergency services at the Nagaon Medical College throughout the day as part of the protest. The students protested with play cards in their hands and demanded a proper investigation into the incident.
