Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday spoke to Indian players participating in the Paris Paralympics through video conferencing. The Paris Paralympics are starting from the 28th of this month. During this, Mr. Modi said that the players going to Paris are going as flag bearers of India. He said that this journey is extremely important for their lives and their sports, this journey is equally important for the country. Mr. Modi said that India’s pride is linked to the achievements of the players in Paris. The Prime Minister said that 140 crore Indians are blessing these players. He said that when a player reaches such a big platform of any sport, it reflects his courage, dedication and sacrifice. The Prime Minister said that when it comes to para athletes, the truth and challenge increase even more. He said that para athletes reach this stage and show how strong they are despite adverse circumstances.

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that this time India is sending its largest contingent ever to the Paralympics. He informed that 84 players will represent India in Paralympics 2024. Shri Mandaviya said that these players have not only shown excellence in sports but have also proved that any obstacle can be overcome with desire, dedication and hard work. He said that this time more than 50 percent of Indian players are participating in Paralympics for the first time. Shri Mandaviya said that it is a matter of pride that Indian players created history by winning 19 medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2022 and performing brilliantly in Asian Para Games.
