Maindua, Raisen District – The verdant grounds of Ravindra Nath Tagore University in Maindua village, Bhojpur, vibrated with energy as it played host to the Divisional Labour Sports Competition, an initiative of the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board. This event, rich with the spirit of sportsmanship, saw workers from various sectors come together to compete and celebrate their athletic talents.
The competition, designed to promote physical fitness and sports talent among the labor community, featured an array of events including Kabaddi, Volleyball, and various athletic disciplines such as Long Jump, Javelin Throw, and sprints over 100 and 200 meters. A unique addition to the competition was the Rope Tightening event, showcasing strength and skill in a different light.
Inauguration and Closing Ceremonies
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Kuldeep Singh Gurjar, the State General Secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, who emphasized the importance of sports in enhancing worker welfare. The closing ceremony saw Deputy Secretary Labour Ratnakar Jha as the chief guest, where he lauded the participants for their enthusiasm and athletic prowess.
Winners in each category were honored on stage, receiving accolades and recognition for their efforts, highlighting the event’s commitment to recognizing and encouraging sports talent.
Event Insights
Inspector and Regional Officer Manish Srivastava commented on the significant turnout, expressing satisfaction with how the competition met its objective of providing a platform for workers to exhibit their sporting skills. “This event not only promotes health and sports but also boosts morale and camaraderie among workers,” Srivastava added.
