Sahibganj: Last night in Barhet area of Sahibganj, police acted fast after villagers from Jhimoli tipped them off. They said some unknown people were loading iron pipes meant for government water supply work onto trucks near Jhimoli Road. A team led by the Barhet sub-divisional police officer raided the spot.
They found an inter-district gang behind the theft. Police caught 16 people red-handed while stealing and arrested them right away. They also seized three vehicles used in the crime. Police say the gang’s leader is among those arrested. Raids are still going on to catch the others who got away. A case has been filed at Barhet police station against 18 named people and two unknown ones. This shows how police are stepping up to stop theft of public goods in the area.
