New Delhi, February 5, 2026 – Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah officially launched Bharat Taxi in Delhi today. This is the country’s first ride-hailing service built entirely on a cooperative model, designed to put drivers in the driving seat—literally—and give them a fairer deal while keeping fares reasonable for passengers.

No More Heavy Commissions

Most cab apps take a big cut from every ride, sometimes leaving drivers with very little. Bharat Taxi changes that completely. It charges zero commission and promises no surge pricing, even during peak hours. Whatever profit the platform earns goes straight back to the drivers, who are respectfully called “Sarathis.” The Ministry of Cooperation says this setup breaks the old pattern where big companies squeeze drivers and lets the drivers themselves own and manage the service.

Real Care for Drivers

The platform isn’t just about money—it’s also looking after the people behind the wheel. Every Sarathi gets health insurance, accident coverage, a retirement savings plan, and a proper support team to help with any issues. These steps are meant to give drivers and their families some much-needed security and peace of mind.

Encouraging Women Drivers

Bharat Taxi has already rolled out a scheme called Bike Didi to bring more women into the profession. Over 150 women have joined as riders so far, and the early response shows it’s working well in creating safe job opportunities for them.

Today’s launch feels like a genuine shift toward fairer roads in India. Passengers can expect steady, affordable fares, and drivers finally get the earnings and respect they’ve long deserved.
