Panic at Tatanagar Rail Yard after leopard sighting

Jamshedpur: A wave of fear swept through the Tatanagar Railway Yard following the sighting of a leopard late Wednesday evening. The alarm was raised after a video clip showing the feline prowling near the washing line went viral, prompting authorities to swing into immediate action.

The Railway administration has issued a high alert, banning solo movement for employees in the yard and surrounding office areas. “Safety is our top priority,” stated Area Manager Samir Sourav, adding that duty rosters have been adjusted to ensure workers move in pairs. RPF Inspector Rakesh Mohan confirmed that personnel have been instructed to use vehicles for patrolling instead of walking.

The Forest Department, led by DFO Saba Alam, arrived at the spot to launch a search operation. To track the leopard’s movement, four high-tech surveillance cameras are being installed across the yard. This incident follows previous sightings in Kadma and Adityapur, raising concerns about wildlife venturing deeper into industrial and residential zones.
