Acharya Pramod Krishnam, a former member of the Congress party’s Uttar Pradesh advisory council, has declared his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after being expelled from the party for six years.
Krishnam, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow on a Congress ticket but lost, had recently praised Modi for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. He had also criticized the Congress leadership for skipping the event and for being unprepared for the upcoming elections.
The Congress party, in a statement issued by general secretary K C Venugopal, said that Krishnam was expelled for “indiscipline and making repeated statements against the party”.
Krishnam, reacting to his expulsion, thanked the Congress for relieving him from the party and said that he would stand with Modi all his life. He also accused the Congress of being anti-Hindu and anti-national.
“I got to know yesterday that Congress has issued a letter stating that due to anti-party activities, I have been expelled from the party for six years. I want to thank the Congress for relieving me from the party… And I also want to ask, because the letter cites anti-party activities as the reason for expulsion, Venugopal ji and Kharge ji should tell what were the activities that were against the party and when did they get to know about them,” Krishnam told reporters.
He added, “I will stand with Narendra Modi all my life. He is the only leader who can protect the country and the Hindu religion. The Congress is a party of traitors and cowards. They have no respect for Lord Ram or the sentiments of the people. They are preparing for the 2029 elections instead of the 2024 elections. They have no vision or strategy for the country.”
Krishnam, who is also the founder of the Shri Kalki Foundation and the Peethadhishwar of the Kalki Dham, said that he had not joined the BJP yet, but he was open to the possibility. He said that he had met Modi during the Ram temple ceremony and had a cordial conversation with him.
“I have not joined the BJP yet, but I am not averse to it. I have met Modi ji during the Ram temple ceremony, and he greeted me warmly. He is a great leader and a humble person. He has done a lot for the country and the Hindu religion. He has fulfilled the dream of building a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. I have full faith in him and his policies,” Krishnam said.
