Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy launched the Tiranga Yatra in Hyderabad. Speaking to media on the occasion, he announced the launch of Independence Day celebrations.

Reddy said that Independence Day celebrations have been organised on a grand scale for the last three years with the support of the Central Government. He appealed to the people, especially students and voluntary organisations, to educate the youth about the history of India’s freedom movement.

He mentioned that during the 75th anniversary of Independence, about 23 crore people had hoisted the national flag at their homes in response to the Prime Minister’s call to hoist the national flag in every home under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative. He also appealed to the people to celebrate Independence Day with the same spirit and enthusiasm this year too. The celebration of Independence including the Tiranga Yatra will continue till 15th August.

Reddy appealed to the Telugu speaking people to celebrate Independence Day celebrations with full enthusiasm and urged everyone to hoist the national flag at their homes.
