Imphal, August 7, 2024: The Manipur State Legislative Assembly had yesterday agreed in favour of seven grant demands totalling to Rs. 6570 crore for the departments in question. The approved grant demands were related to the departments of Agriculture, Community and Rural Development, Power, Youth Affairs and Sports Development, Planning, State Training Academy, Minority and other backward Class, and schedules caste.
In another colossal step the Assembly Speaker Satyabrata Singh yesterday informed that a house committee to look into the matter of Illegal migration and unnatural formation of new villages in the state has been formed. The 12-member committee has all opposition MLAs and state Water Resources Minister Awangbou Newmai as the chairperson.
The committee was constituted under the Legislative Assembly Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules and was supposed to submit its report in three months. It was supposed to help to avoid the issues connected with Illegal migration and influence on the state’s demography.
