Atchutapuram, August 23, 2024 – The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident at the Escientia Pharma Company in Atchutapuram, which resulted in the loss of 17 lives and left several others severely injured.
CM’s Statement and Condolences
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Naidu highlighted the grave consequences of failing to adhere to proper safety protocols in industrial operations. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured them of comprehensive support from the government. The Chief Minister announced an immediate financial assistance package of 1 crore rupees for the families of the deceased, 50 lakh rupees for those severely injured, and 25 lakh rupees for those with minor injuries.
Emphasis on Safety and Accountability
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that while financial compensation can be provided, the loss of lives is irreplaceable. He stressed the importance of balancing industrial development with stringent safety measures, underscoring that negligence in following standard operating procedures (SOPs) should not be tolerated. The Chief Minister announced the formation of a High-Level Inquiry Committee to thoroughly investigate the causes of the accident.
Financial Assistance and Support
The financial assistance package announced by the Chief Minister aims to provide immediate relief to the affected families. The package includes:
