In a fresh and creative move, the district administration in Bettiah, West Champaran, Bihar, used sand art to get people excited about voting. This happened right in the collectorate campus on October 26. The idea was to make more folks aware and encourage them to vote in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in 2025.
The event was put together by the district’s Sweep Cell, which focuses on voter education. They set up a beautiful sand sculpture near the district auditorium. It showed messages about why voting matters, how it boosts participation, and the need to increase turnout. District Election Officer and District Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar kicked things off by cutting a ribbon.
video from the event captures the stunning sand art and the enthusiasm around it.
He praised the sand artist, Madhurendra Kumar, saying, “These kinds of artistic efforts are a great way to spread awareness and make our democracy stronger.” The artist, who is known internationally, explained that his work aims to inspire young voters especially those voting for the first time to head to the polls on November 11 and choose their leaders.
Local police chiefs like Bettiah SP Dr. Shaurya Suman and Bagaha SP Sushant Kumar Saroj were there, along with other officials such as Additional Collector Rajiv Ranjan Singh and others. Everyone urged people to turn out in big numbers to strengthen democracy.
