In connection with Guru Purnima celebration in Nepal, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu specially arranged a programme to pay tribute to that moment of history namely Lord Buddha who for the first time preached Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh to his five foremost disciples. Leaders and members of different schools of Buddhism and monasteries in the country joined the function that included auspicious prayers and chanting from the Buddhist scriptures called Sutras.
DCM Prasanna Shrivastava spoke on the values of teachings of Lord Buddha and bonds of cultural relations between India and Nepal stating that Buddhism has always remained a bond between the two sovereign nations.
